It all started with a passion for embroidery taught to me by my Grandmother, as well as watching my Aunts quilt, my Mother sewing outfits for us as children, making porcelain dolls with my other Grandmother, and just generally being blessed by their time and patience.

After moving to a small seaside village on the Wild Coast of South Africa and not having anyone to share my passion with, I started teaching Silk Ribbon embroidery from my home, never knowing that it would start a journey of learning beyond my wildest dreams.

The classes soon outgrew my home and an opportunity arose to join a friend in her Quilting venture, giving lessons from her shop, which then became my baby after a few years, when I called the shop Bluebugz for my three little children who kept me driven and very busy indeed.

I made the most amazing contacts, learned so much about quilting, needlework, and embroidery, both hand and machine. Some of my most precious memories are rooted in the special people who crossed my path and constantly encouraged and inspired me.

After 13 years we had to make one of the most difficult decisions and immigrate to the United Kingdom. I had to close up shop and transition into the next season.

I have to admit, I'm struggling a little to juggle work and pleasure here in the land of green hills and dales. The English countryside is so beautiful it can take your breath away! And the contrasting winter can drag you down as it engulfs you in dull grey bleakness. But I still find such joy in needle and thread and its my sanity in a world of work, housework and moody teenagers.

I am truly blessed and hope to be able to share some of my passion and blessing with you.
